He Lives

He Lives
words by Henry Ackley

I serve a risen Savior
He’s in the world today.
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy;
I hear His voice of cheer;
And just the time I need Him
He’s always near.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary,
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading,
Through all the stormy blast;
The day of His appearing
Will come at last.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
To Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him,
The Help of all who find,
None other is so loving,
So good and kind.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Collections: Thimbles - Some of My Collection

I'm sure you want to see some of the thimbles in my collection, so here you go. All the thimbles I'm showing today are ones my aunt Lynn already had when she gave the set to me.

One of my favorites is this thimble. It has the Norman Rockwell painting of Tiny Tim. I love the book (and movie) A Christmas Carol.

Another one of my favorites is this owl thimble.

This one, I'm assuming my aunt got when she went to England with her sisters.

This one is one of the commemorative thimbles of the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

Come back tomorrow to see some of the thimbles I've collected.

And don't forget to enter the thimble necklace giveaway, if you haven't already...

Collections: Thimbles - Intro

Thimbles aren't just for sewing anymore. In fact, I don't even have a sewing thimble! But what I do have are collectible thimbles. Several years ago, we went to visit my great aunt who lives a couple hours away. While we were there, she gave me her collection of thimbles she accumulated during her travels. I found a spot on my wall for the thimble display rack. From then on, when we go on a vacation or a day trip, I'll most likely come back home with a new thimble souvenir to add the the rack. Now, all the thimbles won't fit in the rack and some have had to migrate to my bookshelf.

Alas! and Did My Savior Bleed

Alas! and Did My Savior Bleed
words by Isaac Watts

Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I?

Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine—
And bathed in its own blood—
While the firm mark of wrath divine,
His Soul in anguish stood.

Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Well might the sun in darkness hide
And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died,
For man the creature’s sin.

Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

 Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.

Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

 But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
’Tis all that I can do.

Collections: Mugs - What Goes in the Mugs

So what do I like to put in all these mugs?

Coffee:
With coffee I add a little bit of cream.
For our everyday coffee we use Great Value Colombian roast,
and for an occasional cup we'll make Peet's French roast.

Tea:
I take about 1 teaspoon of sugar in my tea. (Though occasionally I'll be bad and put in 2 teaspoons.) Here is a post I did about a year ago of my top three favorites. The top two are still the same, but I think my third choice has changed.

1. Constant Comment by Bigelow
2. Cinnamon Plum by Republic of Tea
3. Ginger Peach by Republic of Tea
Bonus: Lemon Zinger by Celestial Seasonings

What do you put in your mugs?

Collections: Mugs - Intro

Oh dear! Mugs are a weakness of mine. I have too many to count. Some are out being used but most are stored in the attic or in my hope chest. I know one thing, when I start my own house, we won't have a shortage of mugs!

Tea cups are lovely, too. I don't have as many tea cups as I do mugs. They are perfect for things that mugs cannot do like for use at a tea party or for that day when you are in the mood for a small cup of hot drink. They are even good for desserts like puddings and trifles.

There is just something about a mug. When you put hot coffee or tea in it, it says comfort.

Mugs are there to help your friendships grow over a cup of coffee.

Mugs are companions when reading a book.

Mugs can warm your hands and your insides on a cold winter day.

They can tell stories of where you have been or remind you of the person who gave you a particular mug. I feel that mugs are friends.

Like a River Glorious

Like a River Glorious
words by Frances Havergal

Like a river glorious, is God’s perfect peace,
Over all victorious, in its bright increase;
Perfect, yet it floweth, fuller every day,
Perfect, yet it groweth, deeper all the way.

Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest
Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand,
Never foe can follow, never traitor stand;
Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care,
Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.

Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest
Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

Every joy or trial falleth from above,
Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love;
We may trust Him fully all for us to do.
They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true.

~~~
“I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream.” ~Isaiah 66:12
