It's a Wrap! Day 7

Message Pennant

You can use washi tape or an old book page to make this pennant. Cut to the length you want and fold over with a toothpick inserted into the crease. (If using a book page, glue together at this point.) If so desired, you can cut tails on the pennant or you can leave the straight edge.

Write on any message you like...
"Hello"     "Hooray!"      "Love"     "To: From:"      "Merry Christmas!"    "Happy Birthday!"    etc.

Attach to the package with a piece of washi tape.

It's a Wrap! Day 6

Washi Tape Candles

Washi tape is so "in" right now that there are many ideas for craft projects using it. That's why this week is all about washi tape.

For the first washi project, I have these cute washi birthday candles for a package.

To start, wrap your package with a plain colored paper. You could do a print but it might take away from the washi tape candles.

1. Tear off strips of washi tape. I made the bottom edge straight and the top edge crooked.
2. Leaving a bit of space between each piece, place on the package.
3. Draw candle flames above the crooked edge with a pen.

It's a Wrap! Day 4

Button Monogram

I made this monogrammed gift for my niece Eve. It was really easy to create. Once your gift is wrapped, chose the buttons you want to use and lay them on the package in the design you want...initials, a flower, smiley face, etc. Using tacky glue or a hot glue gun, adhere the buttons to the package and let dry.

It's a Wrap! Day 3

Sheet Music

This wrapping idea is great for all types of people. You can print off a copy of a hymn, classical piece, the receivers favorite song, a children's song, Christmas carol, the happy birthday song, etc.

For this gift, I used a hymn that the receiver of the gift loves. I traced a circle that was the right size onto the paper with a pencil. I then took craft scissors and cut around the circle. Go over the edges with an eraser to remove any pencil marks left on the circle.

Attach to the gift using tape or glue. Tie a ribbon around and secure with a basic knot.

It's a Wrap! Day 2

Lettered Pennant Banner

This project can easily be done with an old book page, scrapbook paper, or plain white paper with hand-drawn designs.

What you need:
book page
glue stick
string
sharpie marker

Cut long strips out of your book page. There's no exact width and length. You want it long enough to fold over in half and wide enough to write a letter on. Fold in half, and cut tails in each strip if desired. Write a letter on each pennant with a sharpie marker. The letters can be as fancy or plain as you want.

Cut your string to the length you want and tie on. I wrapped my string around the gift a few times then taped the ends to the back of the gift. Loop each pennant over the string and glue together.

It's a Wrap! Day 1

Including a Photograph on Your Package

To add a personal touch, include a photograph on the outside of this package. I chose to add a black and white picture of a hawk to this gift wrapped in brown paper to go with a neutral theme. A flower photo might be nice on a colorful package or try a photo of a holly leaf and berry on a Christmas package.

The photo adds interest to the package plus the receiver of the gift now has a nice photo to frame or display.
