The Solid Rock

The Solid Rock
words by Edward Mote

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Refrain
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:25-26

I do love this hymn...such rich and comforting words!

And I also love this picture of a sweet little girl on a rock. May she always stand on The Rock!

Kati, sometimes we have sung a hymn so many times, the words get lost on us because they are no longer fresh and new. Oh, what a loss that is for us. May we be given hearts to sing these wondrous words just as if it were the very first time we had ever sung them! For wondrous they surely are! Thank you for sharing hymns on your blog. You always showcase such beautiful ones.

And such a sweet, sweet picture of Eve ....
