June Photo-a-day Challenge

The new photo-a-day challenge starts tomorrow! I'm really looking forward to getting my camera out every day again. 

I would love for you to join me in this photo-a-day challenge!

Here is the list of themes for each day. If you are planning on participating in this challenge with me, feel free to copy this picture, save it to your computer, post it on your page, etc. 

As a review:

There are several different ways you can post your challenge photos: post your day's photo each day, wait and post a whole week at a time, or save all your photos until the end of the month and post them all at one. You can blog your photos, upload them to an open photo bucket album, add them to instagram, or any other place where photos can be posted.

Spring Photo Shoots - 2014: Maddie and Alaine

Its been two years since I did photo shoots of my local nieces and nephews. When my sister Kristin made her list of goals for 2014, taking non-candid photos was on her list. I volunteered to take some pictures for her. Now that warmer weather is here (finally!), we were ready to get out there and take some pictures.

Like last time, we're doing two children a week. Kristin decided that the two girls should go first so on Sunday afternoon we went outside to snap some pictures.

Next week, two of the boys will have their turns.

Trip to Washington, D.C.

Last week, Dad was on vacation and I wasn't back to work yet, so we took a trip to Washington, D.C. 

When we got out at our Metro stop, we were able to see the Washington Monument on the left...

...and the Capitol Building on the right.

We spent some of our time at the National Gallery of Art. We were thrilled to be able to see painting of some of the painters we've studies such as Monet, Degas, Cassatt, Cezanne, Renoir, Hicks, Stewart, Copley, Turner, and my favorite, van Gogh. The gallery also had a special exhibit of Andrew Wyeth set up that we were able to see. 

The Smithsonian Museum of American History is always a fun place to visit. Filled with fun exhibits like the first ladies gowns, presidential memorabilia, trasportation through the ages, Edison's light bulb, a gigantic dollhouse, etc. We made sure we saw Julia Child's kitchen. It's her actual kitchen...including her extra high counters and her collection of cookbooks (including all the ones she wrote). 

Bekah wanted to see Dorothy's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz before we left.

We had such a fun time on our trip!

A New Photo-a-day Challenge

The last photo-a-day challenge I did was a big success. Not only did I have fun, but five other ladies had fun as well. I had a couple of people express interest in doing another one and I thought maybe summer would be a good time to do one.

June will be the month for the next photo-a-day challenge. 

There are different ways you can post your challenge photos: post your day's photo each day, wait and post a whole week at a time, or wait until the end of the month and post them all at once. You can blog your photos, or you could upload them to an open photo bucket album, put them on instagram, etc. 

This time, I'll have a link-up on the first day where you can link up all your pictures.

I'll be putting together the topics in a few days and I was wondering if there were any topics you would like to see included. I'll keep your suggestions in mind while compiling the list.

Inchworm

As we were outside eating dinner last night, I happen to spot this inchworm inching his way across the patio. I was able to coax him onto my finger and take some pictures. 

I cropped this one so that you can get a good look at his tiny feet clinging to my fingernail.

I took all these pictures with my Nikon D3000. I didn't edit these photos much, just a little adjustment to the exposure and some cropping were done to the pictures.
