Even though I hardly ever go for books involving medicine, I find I enjoy them when I do read this type of book.
Bread, Jam, and a Borrowed Pram was very easy to read. I enjoyed the diary form of this book about Dot's time as a health visitor in the slums of London. Dot takes care of newborn babies, families suffering from lack of food and sickness, and a lot of other needs of these people.
The struggles of the job and the area are hard, but the joys she finds on her rounds make it all worth it.
