31 Days of Decadent Desserts {Day 10} Chocolate Chip Cookies

Before we get to the recipe of the day, a few announcements.

And someone very special is celebrating a birthday today. My nephew Ben is turning 4! It doesn't seem like four years ago that I held that boy for the first time and yet I can't remember life without Ben.

Now back to those decadent desserts...

I like chewy cookies. And these, if baked for the minimum amount of time, then they are the perfect chewy consistency for me.



Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies


Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375°

2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts, if adding. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

3. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.





As with most fine things, chocolate has its season. There is a simple memory aid that you can use to determine whether it is the correct time to order chocolate dishes: any month whose name contains the letter A, E, or U is the proper time for chocolate.
