31 Days of Decadent Desserts {Day 14} Pound Cake

This is a good basic cake. You can serve it by itself, with fresh fruit and whipped cream, or with homemade ice cream

Vanilla Pound Cake
found in the May 2010 edition of Southern Living magazine

Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
3 cups sugar
2 cups (1 pound!) butter, softened
3/4 cup milk
6 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325. Place flour, sugar, butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla (in that order) in 4-qt. bowl of a heavy-duty electric stand mixer. Beat at low speed 1 minute, stopping to scrape down sides. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes.
2. Pour into a greased 10-inch tube pan, and smooth. Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until a long wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan to wire rack, and cool completely (about 1 hour).

And be sure to check out the giveaway going on now.

Basic, yes. And basically scrumptious! :)

Love a good pound cake recipe. I agree it is great with homemade ice cream, especially when toasted! I will give this a try.
