"Give Thanks to Him"
Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations.

The Air We Breathe
Sisters Book Challenge
Book 9
The Air We Breathe by Christa Parrish
This is another book I read in October and haven't gotten around to reviewing as part of the Sisters Book Challenge.
This book is about Molly Fisk and her mother, Louise. They run a wax museum in Maine tourist town. Molly does not go outside. She only feels safe while inside the museum. When a woman she knew six years ago, walks into the museum, Molly's whole life changes.
Claire is a grieving woman when she strikes up a friendship with young girl (who hardly talks to anyone but Claire). As their friendship grows, Claire begins to heal but then the girl and her mother vanish.
Now it's Claire's turn to help Molly find a second chance at life, free from all the pain in her past.

The Secret Keeper
Sisters Book Challenge
Book 8
The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton
I read The Secret Keeper back in October but I'm just now getting around to writing my review for the Sisters Book Challenge.
This was one of those books that you didn't want to put down. The story was very captivating plus there was mystery woven into the book.
Sixteen-year-old Laurel witnesses a shocking crime after a stranger walks up her family's lane and starts talking to her mother, Dorothy. Fifty years later, Laurel is back at her childhood home for her mother's 90th birthday. While looking through an old photo album, she sees a picture of her mother and another woman named Vivien she's never seen before which brings up many questions about her mother's past, who Vivien was, and the witnessed crime.
If you haven't read this book, I would recommend picking it up and giving it a try. I think you would enjoy it!

I Want a Principle Within
I Want a Principle Within
words by Charles Wesley
I want a principle within of watchful, godly fear,
A sensibility of sin, a pain to feel it near.
I want the first approach to feel of pride or wrong desire,
To catch the wandering of my will, and quench the kindling fire.
From Thee that I no more may stray, no more Thy goodness grieve,
Grant me the filial awe, I pray, the tender conscience give.
Quick as the apple of an eye, O God, my conscience make;
Awake my soul when sin is nigh, and keep it still awake.
Almighty God of truth and love, to me Thy power impart;
The mountain from my soul remove, the hardness from my heart.
O may the least omission pain my reawakened soul,
And drive me to that blood again, which makes the wounded whole.
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with Whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. ~Ephesians 4:30

Like a River Glorious
I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream.
~Isaiah 66:12

Like a River Glorious
words by Frances Ridley Havergal
Like a river glorious, is God’s perfect peace,
Over all victorious, in its bright increase;
Perfect, yet it floweth, fuller every day,
Perfect, yet it groweth, deeper all the way.
Refrain:
Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest
Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.
Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand,
Never foe can follow, never traitor stand;
Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care,
Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.
Every joy or trial falleth from above,
Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love;
We may trust Him fully all for us to do.
They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true.

5-Minute Cookie in a Mug
A few weeks ago I was home by myself for a good part of the day. After lunch I wanted a little something sweet so I went to my Pinterest board where I remembered pinning a 5-minute cookie in a mug for one. Perfect!
I was a bit skeptical when I had put all the ingredients in the mug. It looked really wet and I couldn't imagine it being cookie consistency when it was finished baking.
I was really surprised when it came out looking like a cookie. It had a great taste, too!

5 Minute Chocolate Chip Cookie
recipe originally found on the blog Jo and Sue
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp white sugar
1 Tbsp brown sugar
splash of vanilla
pinch of salt
1 egg yolk
3 Tbsp flour
1 1/2 Tbsp chocolate chips (or heath chips, mint chips, M&Ms, etc.)
Directions:
In a microwave safe bowl or coffee mug, mix butter with sugars. Stir with a fork until well combined. Add vanilla and salt, stir. Add egg yolk (yolk only, not the white), and mix well. Stir in flour until just combined. Lastly, stir in chocolate chips. Cook in microwave for 40 - 60 seconds. Start checking for doneness at 40 seconds. (Mine took the full 60.)

There's a Wideness in God's Mercy
His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.
~Luke 1:50
:: :: :: :: ::
There's a Wideness in God's Mercy
words by Frederick Faber
There’s a wideness in God’s mercy,
Like the wideness of the sea;
There’s a kindness in His justice,
Which is more than liberty.
There is no place where earth’s sorrows
Are more felt than up in Heaven;
There is no place where earth’s failings
Have such kindly judgment given.
There is welcome for the sinner,
And more graces for the good;
There is mercy with the Savior;
There is healing in His blood.
There is grace enough for thousands
Of new worlds as great as this;
There is room for fresh creations
In that upper home of bliss.
For the love of God is broader
Than the measure of our mind;
And the heart of the Eternal
Is most wonderfully kind.
There is plentiful redemption
In the blood that has been shed;
There is joy for all the members
In the sorrows of the Head.
’Tis not all we owe to Jesus;
It is something more than all;
Greater good because of evil,
Larger mercy through the fall.
If our love were but more simple,
We should take Him at His word;
And our lives would be all sunshine
In the sweetness of our Lord.
Souls of men! why will ye scatter
Like a crowd of frightened sheep?
Foolish hearts! why will ye wander
From a love so true and deep?
It is God: His love looks mighty,
But is mightier than it seems;
’Tis our Father: and His fondness
Goes far out beyond our dreams.
But we make His love too narrow
By false limits of our own;
And we magnify His strictness
With a zeal He will not own.
Was there ever kinder shepherd
Half so gentle, half so sweet,
As the Savior who would have us
Come and gather at His feet?

Photo Friday: Yellow Rumped Warbler
Goodness! It's November now. And not only November but also the first Friday which means time to link up your photos.
This poor girl had an accident with our glass storm door. She recovered, but while she was getting out of her stunned state, I was able to get a few pictures. She is a beautiful little bird.
